Nottingham Council House was a project we undertook in conjunction with G F Tomlinson of Derby. We carried out the upgrade works to the internal infrastructure, alarms, electrical and the internal fabric creating new staircases for fire escapes and building works in connection with the M&E installation, with a new electrical and heating system being installed in the building.
The works included removing and replacing marble panels, existing timber floors were lifted and removed and relayed on completion. Timber oak panelling to the inside of the internal rooms was remodelled and taken down and redone. Works took place throughout the building in all areas including the ballroom, sanding of the existing floor and the resealing of the floor.
We installed new oak screen doors to 3 of the levels in the corridors to add to the fire protection scheme, these were all bespoke built and installed by hand. Upgrades to fire doors were carried out and existing fire doors were upgraded to comply with current regulations, this was all working in conjunction with conservation, the council offices and G F Tomlinson.
All works were carried out with a sympathetic nature, the building was completely functional at all times with no-one having to be removed from the building, court proceedings continued to take place within the corridors and the situation was well managed. The works totalled, in the end to around £360,000, all works were completed on time and on budget.
